US Congress Warns Employees not to Install Chinese AI App DeepSeek: Report

US congressional workplaces have been alerted versus setting up the Chinese AI app DeepSeek, Axios reported on Thursday, citing a notice issued by the chief administrative officer of the US House of Representatives.

According to Axios, the notice stated, “At this time, DeepSeek is under review by the CAO and is presently unapproved for main House usage.”

The emergence of DeepSeek, an affordable Chinese AI model, has raised concerns about its potential to challenge the marketplace supremacy of US-based AI giants like OpenAI and Alphabet’s Google.

Last week, DeepSeek introduced a complimentary AI assistant that it claims runs with usage and at a fraction of the expense of US designs. Within days, it became one of the most downloaded app on Apple’s App Store, fueling stress over US management in AI. This development added to a market shake-up that erased around $1 trillion in worth from US tech stocks.
